ITSM Capability Assessments

Understand Your Capabilities and Where to Improve

A Clearer View of Your Current Position

Improving IT services begins with understanding how effectively your current service management capabilities support the organisation, its users and its customers.

SYSOP’s ITSM Capability Assessment provides a structured, independent view of selected areas of service management. It helps identify existing strengths, areas of concern and opportunities where focused improvement could make a meaningful difference.

Focused Around Your Needs

An Assessment With a Practical Purpose

Agree the Scope

Choose the service management capabilities and organisational challenges that are most relevant to your objectives.

Gather Perspectives

Bring together information and insight from the people who manage, deliver and depend upon your IT services.

Develop a Clearer Picture

Use structured assessment criteria to highlight strengths, inconsistencies, challenges and potential improvement opportunities.

Capabilities We Can Explore

An assessment can focus on one area or examine a combination of related service management capabilities, including:

  • Service desk
  • Incident management
  • Service request management
  • Problem management
  • Change enablement
  • Service level management
  • Knowledge management
  • Monitoring and event management
  • Continual improvement
  • Roles, responsibilities and governance
  • Performance measures and reporting
  • Communication between teams
  • People, behaviours and organisational culture
  • Alignment between processes and supporting technology

The scope will be agreed around what your organisation needs to understand rather than a fixed list of practices.

How We Build the Picture

Our assessment criteria have been developed through many years of IT Service Management training and consultancy. They draw on established service management principles, including concepts associated with ITIL®, but are applied in the context of your organisation.

Depending on the agreed scope, we may gather evidence through questionnaires, stakeholder interviews, facilitated discussions and a review of relevant documentation or performance measures. We consider not only whether processes exist, but how consistently they are understood and how effectively they support the outcomes your organisation needs.

From Evidence to Action

An Independent SYSOP Assessment

This is an independent assessment of selected IT Service Management capabilities using criteria developed by SYSOP. It is not an official assessment under the PeopleCert ITIL Maturity Model and does not result in PeopleCert certification or formal industry benchmarking.

If your organisation specifically requires an official ITIL Maturity Model assessment, please tell us when enquiring so that the appropriate route can be considered.
