Description

The ITIL Managing Professional Transition (Version 5) course is designed for experienced ITIL professionals who want to transition to the latest version of ITIL through a focused learning route.

This course is suitable for candidates who already hold an eligible advanced ITIL designation and want to update their knowledge of ITIL Version 5 without completing all modules individually.

The course consolidates key concepts from ITIL Product, ITIL Service and ITIL Experience, helping delegates understand how digital products and services are designed, built, delivered, supported and continually improved.

Delegates will explore the ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle, the role of value chain activities, the importance of experience-led service and product management, and the growing influence of AI, automation, governance and digital operating models.

By the end of the course, delegates will be better prepared to apply ITIL Version 5 concepts to real-world product, service and experience management scenarios and to prepare for the relevant PeopleCert examinations.

Pre-Requisites

This course is intended for experienced ITIL professionals.

To be eligible for the ITIL Managing Professional Transition route, candidates must hold one of the eligible advanced ITIL designations, such as:

  • ITIL 4 Managing Professional
  • ITIL 4 Master
  • ITIL v3 Expert
  • ITIL v3 Master

Candidates are expected to have a strong working knowledge of ITIL and experience applying IT service management concepts in practice.

Certification requirements include training through an Accredited Training Organization or PeopleCert official learning route, and successful completion of the required exams.

Exam

The ITIL Managing Professional Transition route includes two required exams, which can be scheduled separately and taken in any order.

Exam 1: ITIL Transformation

  • 40 questions

  • 90 minutes
  • Open book
  • Pass mark: 70%

Exam 2: ITIL Managing Professional Transition

  • 60 questions
  • Multiple choice
  • 120 minutes
  • Open book
  • Pass mark: 70%
  • Candidates taking the exam in a language that is not their native or working language may be awarded additional time
  • The exam uses the ITIL Car Rental Scenario as background information for the questions

The Managing Professional Transition exam assesses understanding and application of ITIL Version 5 concepts across digital product management, service management, experience management, AI, automation, value chains and related frameworks.

To be awarded the ITIL Managing Professional Version 5 designation, candidates must also successfully pass the ITIL Transformation Version 5 exam.
