Description

PRINCE2® (Projects In Controlled Environments) is a structured method for effective project management. Originally developed by the UK Government, it is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally.

It provides an easily modified and flexible method for the management of all types of projects - each process is defined with its key "inputs" and "outputs", together with the specific objectives and activities to be carried out within that process. Like many project management methods, PRINCE2® divides a project into manageable stages, which enables an efficient control of resources and regular progress monitoring throughout the project.

This combined Foundation & Practitioner course covers the full PRINCE2 syllabus and therefore equips delegates not just to take the Foundation examination, but also to understand the broad range of PRINCE2's principles, key themes, processes and techniques and to pass the Practitioners exam also. The aim during the course is to achieve an effective balance between exam success and the need for skills transfer.

Delegates are required to undertake preliminary study using a self-study workbook. Further self-study is also expected during the evenings of each course day.

The Unique Sysop Approach

Using practical exercises instead of the ubiquitous PowerPoint presentation, students will work through a series of facilitated and very logical case-studies which will enable them to understand PRINCE2 in a much more effective and practical way.

By the end of the course they will have developed a reference book crammed with the project templates that they have developed - an invaluable reference guide back in the workplace.

Learning is more effective when delegates can be ‘hands-on’ and enjoy themselves, some puzzles and games will be used as a highly valuable change of scene.

Since the course contains no slides and uses such an innovative approach, delegates can be sure that the trainers who deliver our course are experts in how to explain the PRINCE2 method successfully.

In addition, as used in standard PRINCE2 courses, sample exam papers will be used as a vehicle for exam preparation.

Examinations

Students will sit the PRINCE2 Foundation examination at the end of the third day of the course. This is a one-hour, multiple-choice, closed book examination testing the student's knowledge of PRINCE2 theory. Students need to score 50% or more, to pass.

The Practitioner exam will be held on the final day of the course. It is a two-and-a-half hour Objective Testing Examination (complex multiple-choice). There are nine questions based around a case-study scenario. Students are allowed to use an annotated PRINCE2 manual to assist them in the examination. The pass mark (55%) is averaged across all nine questions.
