Slicker ITIL 2008
The first "Slicker ITIL" conference was held at the SAS Radisson Hotel on 17th & 18th June 2008.
The gallery of photographs below show how the conference was enjoyed by the delegates. The key messages of the conference were:
- IT Best Practice is dependent on: culture; sound infrastructure (technology); and well deployed tools - not just ITIL processes.
- Taking care of culture, technology and tools reduces the need for expensive ITIL training and qualification .
- Processes fit for the purpose of the organisation can be implemented without the need to train an army of ITIL experts. This is particularly true if state-of-the-art tools are used to speed up implementation and to help “lock” processes into practice.
- There is little point in attempting to adopt ITIL best practice if the culture of the organisation is wrong – it is likely to end up bureaucratic and unwieldy.
- Research indicates that whilst Service Desk, Incident Management & Problem Management are relatively well addressed in the field - more technical disciplines such as availability management and capacity management tend to be neglected.
- The object of adopting “Best Practice” is to achieve measurable, sustainable service improvement.
